A capable plug-in hybrid small van, but payload and load volume trail the class, and you pay for it.
This Transit Connect PHEV pairs a 150PS petrol-electric drivetrain with low CO2 of 41g/km and WLTP weighted economy of 156.9mpg, making it a candidate for operators needing to cut emissions without going fully electric. Payload is 704kg, which sits below the median 741kg for small vans, and load volume of 3.1m³ is in the lowest quarter of the class, so it won't suit the heaviest or bulkiest loads.
At £29,650 ex VAT it's priced above the median small van (£28,600), and more than the diesel-engined Transit Connect in the same body, which costs £24,600 and actually carries more (739kg payload), albeit with no plug-in capability. The Volkswagen Caddy eHybrid is a closer match on price (£29,045) but offers less payload (697kg), while the Nissan Townstar petrol undercuts both on price and beats this van on payload and volume.
