THRIVE verdict
A budget-friendly small diesel van with one of the best payloads in its class, though cargo volume trails rivals.
This Partner undercuts most small vans on price while carrying more. At £23,470 ex VAT it sits in the cheapest quarter of its class, yet its 982kg payload ranks in the top 10% of small vans we track. For operators who need to carry weight rather than bulk, that combination is hard to ignore.
Load volume is the trade-off: 3.3m³ is below the class median of 3.7m³. The floor still takes a single Euro pallet row of two, or one UK standard pallet, and will swallow pipework or ladders up to 1.8 metres. Fine for parcels, tools and trade kit, less so for bulky, low-density loads.
Badge-engineered twins from Citroën and Fiat share identical payload, volume and towing figures, so cross-shop on price. The Vauxhall Combo matches it on payload and towing at a similar list price, while the Toyota Proace City offers more volume for more money. An electric E-PARTNER sibling costs £2,985 more after grant with less payload, but may suit depot-charged, shorter routes where energy costs run lower than diesel.
Best for
- Heavy, weight-critical loads needing a high payload
- Budget-conscious fleets wanting low list price
- Single-pallet or trade kit deliveries
- Light trailer towing up to 1,000kg
Think twice
- Load volume below class median, not ideal for bulky cargo
- Towing capacity below median for the class
- Compare against electric E-PARTNER if routes suit depot charging

What fits in the load area
| Euro pallets (1,200 x 800mm) | 2, in a single row |
|---|---|
| UK standard pallets (1,200 x 1,000mm) | 1, in a single row |
| 8 x 4 sheets (2,440 x 1,220mm) | Too long for the floor |
| Pipe, timber or ladders | Up to 1.8m on the floor |
Worked out from the verified floor length 1,817mm, 1,229mm between the wheel arches, 1,200mm high. At the full Euro pallet count, the payload allows about 490kg per pallet. Counts use the width between the wheel arches for the whole floor, so they never over-count. Door openings are not in our data: check the rear and side door apertures before relying on a count. Goods stacked on a pallet can stand up to about 1,050mm tall, allowing 150mm for the pallet itself.
Could you go electric?
How this van compares with Peugeot E-PARTNER Panel Van M ELECTRIC 136hp Automatic Professional Plus, the same body with the other powertrain, for a typical working day.
Electric could work: check the points below
- Range. 100 miles a day sits comfortably inside a planning range of about 126 miles, so an overnight charge covers the day.
- Payload. The electric version carries 223kg less (759kg against 982kg).
- Towing. Braked towing: 750kg electric, 1,000kg diesel.
- Energy. Charging at a small-business depot costs about 8.1p a mile against 16.4p for diesel: roughly £2,075 a year less at 25,000 miles.
- Price. The electric version lists for £2,985 more after the £2,500 zero emission van and truck grant, which the energy saving covers in about 1.4 years.
When the diesel is the more practical choice
- Loads that use the last 223kg of the diesel's payload.
- Towing more than 750kg.
How this is worked out
- Planning range is 70% of the official 180-mile WLTP figure, allowing for winter weather and a full load.
- Energy use 0.282 kWh a mile: the usable battery divided by the official range.
- Diesel 165.48p a litre excluding VAT (DESNZ, week of 2 November 2026); the Peugeot PARTNER Panel Van M DIESEL 100hp Manual Professional Plus's official 46mpg.
- Electricity: 28.59p/kWh at a small-business depot (DESNZ, excluding VAT), 26.32p at home as the driver pays (Ofgem price cap), 65.83p on public rapid chargers (Zapmap, excluding VAT).
- 250 working days a year. List prices exclude VAT and options; running costs exclude servicing, insurance, tax and residual values.
