Hyundai has opened UK ordering for the all-new IONIQ 3 compact electric car, with prices starting at £18,495 after the £3,750 Electric Car Grant, according to Electric Cars Report.

That entry price applies to the Advance 42kWh version, which has an on-the-road price of £22,245 before the grant is applied. Further up the range, the Advance 61kWh starts at £25,745 (£21,995 with the grant), followed by the Premium 61kWh at £27,445 (£23,695), the Ultimate 61kWh at £29,945 (£26,195) and the N Line Evo 61kWh at £31,945 (£28,195).

Hyundai says the IONIQ 3 is available with 42kWh and 61kWh battery options and offers up to 308 miles of driving range, a manufacturer claim rather than an independently tested figure.

The model also becomes the second Hyundai to qualify for the full UK Electric Car Grant, joining the KONA Electric.

Customers who had previously reserved an IONIQ 3 can now convert that reservation into a full order and receive the £3,750 grant in place of the earlier £1,500 Hyundai Reservation Saving.

Hyundai is also offering finance on the car, with the Advance 61kWh available from £355 a month with a £355 deposit over 48 months at 8.9% APR representative.

The IONIQ 3 is the first Hyundai model developed for Europe to feature the brand's new Pleos Connect infotainment system, based on Android Automotive OS, and comes with Hyundai SmartSense driver-assistance technology as standard. Its Aero Hatch body gives a 0.263 drag coefficient, and the five-seat cabin has a 441-litre boot.
