Pall-Ex Logistics has taken delivery of the UK's first right-hand-drive IVECO S-eWay Rigid, FleetPoint reports, adding a zero-emission heavy truck to its palletised freight distribution operation.

Managing Director Paul Pegg said Pall-Ex was "proud to be the first in the country to take delivery of an IVECO S-eWay Rigid, marking another important step in our commitment to becoming a leader in sustainable express freight and logistics." He added that the truck is "ideally suited to inner-city deliveries, as it's nimble enough to handle tight areas with ease, and zero tailpipe emissions allow us to operate in areas where traditional HGVs may face restrictions."

The IVECO S-eWay Rigid (AS290S Y/FS BEV ON+) is a 28-tonne truck with an Active Sleeper cab and a 5,700mm wheelbase. Seven modular battery packs give a total capacity of 490kWh, for a manufacturer-claimed range of up to 400km on a single charge. IVECO says the truck can accept rapid charging at up to 350kW, adding up to 200km of range in around 45 minutes.

The truck uses a 6x2 configuration with rear steering, intended to improve manoeuvrability on busy urban streets and in confined delivery locations. Pall-Ex has specified its vehicle with a Bevans Curtainside body and Cantilever tail lift.

Customers can choose S-eWay configurations with four, five or seven battery packs depending on required range and payload; Pall-Ex opted for the seven-battery configuration to prioritise maximum range for its UK-wide freight operation. The truck is powered by a dual-motor electric eAxle developed by FPT delivering 480kW of continuous power and 1,800Nm of torque, and comes with five years of connectivity as standard via IVECO ON, giving access to telematics including vehicle health and energy consumption monitoring.

IVECO UK Business Line Director Truck Duncan Nurse described the S-eWay Rigid as a "triumph of quality, design, and engineering," adding that it "delivers on operational capability without compromise, making the ideal platform for those looking for a zero-emissions heavy truck solution."
