Kempower launches Control Unit V2 charging dispenser with up to 400kW for electric trucks

The new dispenser offers 160kW more than the V1 and is aimed at fleets charging electric trucks at warehouses during loading stops of typically one to two hours. It can be ordered now in all Kempower markets except North America.

DC fast-charging manufacturer Kempower has launched the Control Unit V2, a next-generation version of its Control Unit charging dispenser for complex charging setups. The company announced the launch on 5 November 2026 and says the V2 is available for immediate orders in all Kempower markets except North America.

Kempower says the V2 can deliver up to 400kW of distributed charging power, 160kW more than the Control Unit V1, which Kempower rates at up to 240kW per output. Its product page states the 400kW maximum with the 375A cable option. The unit is also offered with a 200A cable. Power comes from a Kempower Power Unit, and the V2 works with Kempower's distributed charging system, which dynamically shares power between up to 12 dispensers.

The V2 is compatible with all CCS electric vehicles, but Kempower names warehouse-based charging of electric truck fleets during scheduled loading stops as a key use. It says these stops typically last one to two hours and that the extra power means e-trucks can be substantially recharged within the loading window. It also pitches the unit for longer sessions, such as overnight charging at bus depots.

The Control Unit is commonly used with the Kempower Cable Arm as an overhead gantry charger for truck loading bays, in place of an in-ground satellite setup. Cables come down from above and the Power Unit can be installed up to 80 metres from each dispenser. Kempower says this means warehouses do not need to be reconfigured or lose truck parking space. It adds that installing through ceiling space rather than underground can make the Control Unit a lower-cost overhead option in many cases. The V2 can also be mounted on walls and bollards, or installed underground.

"In commercial charging, charging time is downtime," said Jussi Vanhanen, Kempower's chief product officer. "As more fleets electrify, operators are asking less about whether electric trucks can do the job and more about how many hours charging costs them."

Specification

The V2 has an IP65-rated stainless steel enclosure. Its IP69-rated charging cable comes as standard in 5m, 7m or 10m lengths, and the 375A cable can boost up to 500A. A MID/LNE/PTB energy meter and an Eichrecht-approved DC energy meter with Eichrecht certification are available as options. Kempower says approximately 2,000 Control Units have been delivered to truck, bus and car fleets worldwide.
