AIT Home Delivery adds two Mercedes-Benz eSprinter electric vans for urban routes
The vans, supplied by NRG Riverside, will run final-mile deliveries from AIT's Northampton and Enfield sites as the logistics firm looks to cut emissions and prepare for expanding low-emission zones.
AIT Home Delivery has introduced two Mercedes-Benz eSprinter electric vans to its delivery fleet, according to EV Fleet World. The vans will carry out urban delivery routes from the company's Northampton and Enfield facilities.
NRG Riverside supplied the vehicles and supported their introduction into AIT's UK operation.
AIT said the new electric vans form part of a wider strategy to cut Scope 1 emissions and provide sustainable final-mile deliveries, and will help future-proof its operations as more urban areas introduce low-emission zones. The company has also introduced 35 MAN tractor units running on HVO fuel, which it claims cut lifecycle CO2 emissions by up to 90% without compromising reliability.
Gary McKelvey, vice president of global home delivery at AIT Worldwide Logistics, said: "Investing in electric vehicles is another important step in our sustainability journey and demonstrates our commitment to delivering smarter, more efficient and lower-emission logistics solutions."
