1,300 charge points funded across Devon and Torbay

Believ is rolling out more than 1,300 fully funded EV charge points across Devon and Torbay, working with the two councils under the government's LEVI scheme. For operators running vans or pool cars out of the South West, that is a meaningful expansion of on-street capacity in a region where public charging has lagged the M4/M5 corridor.

The units are standard chargers pitched at long-stay and overnight use, aimed squarely at drivers without a driveway - which covers plenty of depot staff and home-based reps as much as residents. All points get contactless payment and, where feasible, PAS1899:2022 compliance, the accessibility standard for public charge points. Sister company Virgin Media O2 is handling delivery, with Believ funding the build outright rather than leaning on council capital. Work starts end of September.

Why this matters: Standard (not rapid) charging means this suits overnight depot-adjacent or home-charging gaps rather than quick turnarounds between jobs - useful for light commercial fleets planning routes around driver homes, less so for anything needing a fast top-up mid-shift. Worth flagging to South West-based drivers once sites go live, and checking whether depot locations overlap with the rollout map.
