BMW M has marked production of its one-millionth vehicle, a BMW M3 finished in BMW Individual Fire Orange III special paintwork and built at BMW Group Plant Munich. The car was presented by Peter Weber, head of BMW Group Plant Munich, to Franciscus van Meel, CEO of BMW M GmbH, during an official ceremony.

BMW Group confirmed that Plant Munich will also produce the fully-electric BMW M3, which it describes as the first high-performance model to feature BMW M Neue Klasse technology. The model will be built exclusively at the main plant, which has been in production for more than 100 years.

BMW Group said the electric M3 will be the second Neue Klasse model produced in Munich, following the fully-electric BMW i3.

From 2027, BMW Group says it will produce only fully-electric vehicles at Plant Munich, following a remodelling of the site carried out during ongoing production. The company is investing around €650 million in transforming the plant into an exclusively electric production site, including a new body shop and vehicle assembly built on about a third of the site's total area.

Production of the current BMW M3 generation began in Munich in 2020.

BMW Group sold 2.46 million passenger vehicles and more than 202,500 motorcycles worldwide in 2025, reporting profit before tax of €10.2 billion on revenues of €133.5 billion, with a workforce of 154,540 employees as of 31 December 2025.
