Gas network price templates released for RIIO-3 settlement
Ofgem has published interim reporting templates for gas distribution and gas transmission network operators under RIIO-3, dated 7 August 2026. It's a plumbing update rather than a fleet announcement, but any operator running CNG or biomethane vehicles depends on this pipework being priced and maintained properly.
The interim RRP guidance requires licensees to use new templates to update their price control financial model (PCFM) during the 2026 Annual Iteration Process. A parallel transmission version lands the same day. Ofgem says it's still building out the full suite of RIIO-3 Regulatory Reporting Packs, so this is a stopgap rather than the finished settlement - the wider price control is still being assembled.
Why this matters: nothing here changes gas fuelling costs today, but the PCFM is the mechanism regulators use to work out what distribution and transmission operators are allowed to recover, so these templates feed into that process even if today's filing doesn't fix any numbers. Fleets with gas refuelling infrastructure, or those weighing biomethane HGV strategies against diesel and BIK-driven EV transition, should treat RIIO-3's ongoing rollout as a cost signal worth tracking rather than a one-off filing.
