Changan Deepal S05 Ultra PHEV launches in UK from £32,990
The plug-in hybrid SUV comes in Pro and Max trims alongside the all-electric Deepal S05 and S07. Changan quotes up to 62 miles of WLTP electric range and 47g/km CO2 from an 18.4kWh battery.

Changan has introduced the Deepal S05 Ultra PHEV, a plug-in hybrid SUV, to the UK, according to Electric Cars Report. The entry-level Pro starts at £32,990 and the more extensively equipped Max costs £34,990.
Options include a panoramic roof (£1,000, Max), 20-inch alloy wheels (£800, Max), paint other than Ganymede Grey (£900) and a detachable tow bar (£700). With the tow bar fitted, the SUV can tow up to 1,600kg braked.
The powertrain combines a 172kW electric motor driving the front wheels with a 63kW 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, giving a system output of 190kW (258PS). An 18.4kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery supplies the electric drive. The engine mainly acts as a generator, but a wet clutch lets it connect mechanically to the driveline above 60mph when extra power and efficiency are needed.
Changan quotes up to 62 miles of WLTP electric range and a combined driving range of up to 648 miles. Under WLTP testing, it gives weighted combined figures of 139.2mpg and 47g/km CO2. With the battery depleted, it quotes 52.3mpg.
The car supports DC charging at up to 55kW, which Changan says takes the battery from 30% to 80% in about 15 minutes under suitable conditions. AC charging is supported at up to 11kW.
Changan offers a seven-year or 100,000-mile vehicle warranty and an eight-year or 124,000-mile battery warranty, subject to terms and conditions, plus three years of RAC roadside assistance. Servicing is due every 12 months or 12,000 miles.
The model is sold through Changan UK's dealer network of nearly 60 sites. It joins the all-electric Deepal S05 and Deepal S07 in the UK range. Changan states that the all-electric Deepal S05 has a five-star Euro NCAP rating.
