McLaren Automotive invests £500m in UK expansion
McLaren Automotive commits £500m to expand UK operations and hire 1,000 employees by 2032.
McLaren Automotive announced it will invest around £500 million to expand its UK operations, creating 1,000 new jobs by 2032.
The company said the investment will fund an expansion of its research and development and production site in South Yorkshire, along with a new vehicle production facility in the UK. McLaren also plans to expand its product portfolio with a performance SUV.
The government said the £500 million commitment builds on £4 billion of government investment into the wider automotive sector by 2035, and that the McLaren investment is expected to unlock up to 3,000 additional jobs across the sector.
Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds said the investment meant 1,000 new jobs up and down the country, with thousands more supported across the supply chain.
