MG's B-segment EV hatchback locked in for 2027 launch

Two concept cars at Goodwood is the sort of thing worth a glance rather than a diary entry, but one of them has a fleet-relevant date attached. MG's B-segment electric hatchback, previewed by the MG GO! concept, is pencilled in for launch in 2027 - a genuine order-book signal for anyone planning small-EV replacement cycles that far out.

The GO! leans hard on heritage, styled around the MGB GT and other mid-century MGs by MG's London design centre under Carl Gotham, with nods to the Metro Turbo, ZR and EX4 along the way. The second concept, the Cyber Concept, points to a future large D-segment performance SUV inspired by the EX181 land speed record car - firmly niche territory for most corporate fleets, but a marker of where MG wants its range ceiling to sit. Alongside the concepts, MG ran seven production and near-production models at the show, including the MGS9 PHEV (its first seven-seat large SUV), the MG4 EV Urban, HS PHEV, ZS Hybrid+, IM5, MGS6 EV and Cyberster, with the MGS9, MGS6 EV and Cyberster also doing hill climb runs.

Why this matters: None of this changes a spec sheet today, but a 2027 B-segment EV from MG is worth flagging in longer-term small-car and salary sacrifice planning, given the brand's pricing has already disrupted that segment once.
