Motability Foundation extends BPS wheelchair-accessible vehicle grant scheme to 2029
The charity has already awarded more than £15 million through 475 grants since the Bespoke Passenger Solutions scheme launched in 2022, funding large vehicles with hoists and other advanced adaptations for disabled people.

The Motability Foundation has announced that it will continue its Bespoke Passenger Solutions (BPS) vehicle grant scheme until 2029, the Eastern Daily Press reported.
The BPS scheme funds large, wheelchair-accessible vehicles with advanced adaptations, including hoists and changing facilities. The charity has already awarded more than £15 million through the programme since it launched in 2022, with 475 grants awarded so far at an average value of more than £31,500.
Helen Rose, grant programme manager at the Motability Foundation, said the scheme's evaluation had shown "the positive and life changing impact BPS has on both disabled passengers and their carers, making their journeys and personal care easier to manage."
Disabled people or the appointee for a disabled person who are on the Motability Scheme, or applying to join it, can apply for a BPS grant.
Among those who have benefited is Tyler Dervish, a 20-year-old from Norfolk who has spastic quadriplegic Pelizaeus-Merzbacher disease. He received an adapted Volkswagen Crafter, nicknamed "The Beast", through the scheme, which the Eastern Daily Press reported has enabled him to continue attending a boxing gym twice a week and to enjoy museum visits.
