NESO publishes Grid Code Revision 46 adding EMT model requirements standard
The National Energy System Operator has revised the GB Grid Code's General Conditions to incorporate a new Electrical Standard covering electromagnetic transient modelling and a process for retrospective submission, applicable in all Transmission Areas.

NESO issued Issue 6 Revision 46 of the Serviced Grid Code on 8 October 2026, covering a revised General Conditions section.
NESO said the change arises from a new Electrical Standards document, titled 'Electromagnetic Transient (EMT) Model Requirements and the Approach & Process for Retrospective Submission'.
The Annex to the General Conditions lists the new standard, Issue 1.0 and dated 8 October 2026, under electronic data communications facilities requirements applicable in all Transmission Areas.
Electrical Standards such as this one are governed under the General Conditions' GC.11 procedure, which sets out how a change can be raised or a new standard added to the list.
