Tusker reports over 500% rise in Pre-loved EV salary sacrifice deliveries

Analysis of the leasing provider's own 100,000-driver base finds employees are using nearly-new EV salary sacrifice deals to access premium models such as the Tesla Model Y and BMW 4 Series that they would be less likely to choose new.

Tusker has published analysis of its own customer and driver data showing sharp growth in demand for its Pre-loved (nearly-new) electric vehicle salary sacrifice scheme. The leasing provider says it analysed data from its 3,000 employer customers and 100,000 drivers to assess uptake of the scheme.

Two years after launch, Tusker reports more than 5,000 Pre-loved cars now on the road, over eight times the number a year earlier, with deliveries up more than 500% in 2026 compared with the previous year. The company also says it took over 3,500 Pre-loved orders in the first seven months of 2026, a 350% increase year-on-year.

Tusker says 77% of its employer customers now offer Pre-loved car salary sacrifice schemes, making them available to more than 2 million employees, around 90% of its total employee base. By January 2026, Pre-loved orders accounted for around 15% of Tusker's new orders.

According to Tusker's analysis, basic-rate taxpayers choosing a brand-new car through its schemes tend to favour cheaper Chinese brands such as JAECOO, OMODA and BYD, but when opting for a Pre-loved car are more likely to choose premium models, with the Tesla Model Y, BMW 4 Series and Audi Q4 e-tron among the most popular. Tusker says the average new car chosen by a basic-rate taxpayer so far in 2026 had a P11D value of £38,500, compared with £46,800 for Pre-loved vehicles, which it says shows drivers typically choosing more premium options than they would if buying new.

Tusker chief executive Kit Wisdom said Pre-loved cars offer employees "a way to access a premium car that they might not otherwise be able to afford", adding that demand for Pre-loved vehicles is "typically strongest among premium models from recognised brands that offer a more attractive value proposition than ordering brand new".

Tusker says every Pre-loved car meets the BVRLA's Used Car Standard and comes with a full-service history and MOT where applicable, with each vehicle reconditioned before being made available on its Pre-loved platform.
