BT and EE top connectivity rankings in dual network study

BT and EE have become the first UK operators to be independently verified as delivering the nation's best mobile and broadband networks at the same time, according to two separate studies commissioned around the results. For fleets running telematics over both fixed and mobile links, that dual claim is the more interesting bit: it's the connection between depot broadband and in-cab mobile data that keeps tracking, tachograph downloads and driver comms actually working. Ookla rated BT's Full Fibre network the UK's best for real-world speeds and gaming performance, while RootMetrics named EE the UK's top mobile network for a 13th consecutive year. Between them the studies ran more than 104 million individual tests across towns, cities and rural areas, and the results were unveiled in London on 4 August 2026. BT says it's ploughing £40 billion into UK infrastructure this decade, extending Full Fibre and 5G+ to millions more premises. (BT Group)
