KGM Musso Rhino+ hits 6,900kg GTW to challenge pick-up rivals

KGM is pitching its new Musso Rhino and Rhino+ pick-ups squarely at fleets watching every penny, with managing director Kevin Griffin talking up value and brand strength alongside the hardware. For operators pricing up 3.5-tonne-towing workhorses, the numbers do the arguing: up to 1,200kg payload, a 5-year/100,000-mile warranty, and a spec sheet that undercuts pickier rivals on cost of entry, per SMMT.

Both derivatives share KGM's 2.2 litre e-XDi diesel, 202 PS and 400 Nm, through an Aisin six-speed automatic. Where they split is off-road geometry and towing headroom: Rhino gets 245mm ground clearance and a 27.8 degree departure angle, Rhino+ trades some departure angle (24.5 degrees) for a segment-leading 6,900kg gross train weight against Rhino's 6,750kg. That's the kind of spec fleets running trailers or plant will actually check before spreadsheets, not brochures, decide the order.

Why this matters: With payload and GTW now genuine differentiators between two models in the same range, fleet buyers need to match the variant to the job rather than default to the base Rhino - Rhino+'s towing edge could justify the spec jump on its own.
