Stagecoach's open-top Coastal Breezer is back for a second summer, running the Route 400 link between Seacombe Ferry Terminal and New Brighton daily from Saturday 18 July to Monday 31 August 2026, weather permitting (Stagecoach). It's a small seasonal route, but the pricing and scheduling detail behind it is worth a look for anyone running passenger-facing fleets through peak season.

Fares are deliberately low-friction: a £1 adult single and a £5 family ticket covering two adults and three children, with free travel for Mersey Ferry River Explorer Cruise and Eureka! Science + Discovery pass holders (Stagecoach). The timetable is built to sync with Mersey Ferry arrivals, and the whole thing runs as a Merseytravel partnership rather than a standalone commercial punt (Stagecoach). That's a six-week, demand-led deployment window built around a fixed external timetable, not internal capacity assumptions.

Why this matters: Stagecoach doesn't spell out the logic, but the mechanics on show - cross-modal timing, tiered low-friction pricing, and partner ticketing reciprocity - are the bits worth stealing, not the route itself. Anyone running seasonal or event-driven vehicle scheduling could do worse than benchmark against it.
