Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles UK has opened order books for the new Caravelle, the people carrier it previously sold in the UK as the Multivan. Volkswagen's UK site says the Multivan is becoming the Caravelle and that the new model is open for order. According to autoevolution, orders opened on 5 November 2026, with prices starting from £41,960 excluding VAT.

Seven seats are standard, with a six-seat layout available as an option. The UK range includes Life and Style trims alongside a new Edition grade, which starts from £49,960 excluding VAT. The Caravelle is also offered from £499 per month on a Solutions Personal Contract Plan, and first customer deliveries are expected in early 2027.

Volkswagen's description of the line-up is led by an eHybrid 4MOTION plug-in hybrid producing 245 PS, with a 19.7 kWh battery. It also lists a 150 PS front-wheel-drive turbodiesel, and says all models use a DSG automatic gearbox. Inside, it describes a 12.9-inch freestanding infotainment display paired with the latest Digital Cockpit. The company notes that these details are based on the factory model line-up and may not reflect final UK specification, features or availability.

The Caravelle name first appeared with the T3 generation in 1979, when it marked Volkswagen's passenger-focused version. David Hanna, managing director of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, said: "Bringing the Caravelle name back was essential, it’s firmly anchored in people’s minds as a premium multi-seat vehicle, and it reflects the heritage no competitor can match."
