Volkswagen cuts price of entry-level ID. Buzz Cargo for 2026 with new 58kWh battery
The updated electric van gets more range and power from a smaller battery, a £5,655 price cut before grant, and Vehicle-to-Load capability, while a long-wheelbase version remains unconfirmed for UK sale.

Volkswagen has replaced the entry-level battery in its ID. Buzz Cargo electric van for 2026, according to a detailed account published by leasing broker Stable Vehicle Contracts. The previous 59kWh unit is being swapped for a new 58kWh battery which, despite the smaller capacity, raises Volkswagen's official WLTP range claim to 218 miles and increases power to 190PS.
Volkswagen has also announced that the new entry-level version is cheaper than the model it replaces, cutting the list price by £5,655 before the Plug-in Van Grant is applied. Eligible Commerce and Commerce Plus variants of the ID. Buzz Cargo qualify for up to £5,000 under the UK Plug-in Van Grant scheme, subject to the scheme's conditions.
The larger 79kWh ID. Buzz Cargo continues alongside the new entry-level model, with Volkswagen quoting up to 277 miles of WLTP range and 286PS. Volkswagen says the 79kWh version supports DC rapid charging at up to 185kW, with a 5% to 80% charge taking around 30 minutes under suitable conditions.
Volkswagen has introduced Vehicle-to-Load functionality across the range, with a built-in power outlet capable of up to 2kW of continuous output and up to 3.6kW at peak, allowing compatible electrical equipment to draw power from the van's high-voltage battery.
A long-wheelbase ID. Buzz Cargo LWB has also been introduced, increasing cargo volume to approximately 4.4m³. However, the LWB was initially launched for ordering in Germany, and Volkswagen had not confirmed final UK pricing or availability at the time Stable Vehicle Contracts' account was published.
